This game is very monotonous. There is a section of the game where I had to pick the correct response to a lengthy conversation precisely before I could advance. It was hell. If you can train your patience to play The Low Road, then I recommend this game to any and everybody. For me, however, the game makes me feel like Jane Goodall should be cradling me in her arms.. The Low Road has an interesting take on classic point-and-click adventures: it adds mini-games to the usual mix of object and npc interactions in the genre. Even though most of said mini-games are trivial tasks, the few exceptions that involve dealing with intel do affect the narrative directly and they require a more cautious approach as a result. In a similar fashion, certain puzzles can be solved differently, which adds a sprinkle of personality to the otherwise insipid main characters. Its 70s ambiance and perfectly suitable soundtrack, in addition to its refreshing, refined art style, are also strong points of this particular title, and help reinforce the whole setting. However, although the overarching plot is adequately executed, the character's vexing writing and their unenthusiastic voice over are a constant hit-or-miss - a monumental flaw that can make it almost impossible for the player to care about any of them. But if you like spy-themed adventures and are looking for a hint of non-entirely-linear progress, The Low Road might be a quick fix. Just keep an eye out for better spy agencies in the meantime.. I wish there was more than thumbs up or thumbs down. The voice acting is really Good, and some of the humor is spot on too. But, for a game, plotwise is lacking, and the gaming elements are really lacking.. Overall I definitely enjoyed this game. I'm a sucker for a good old point n click adventue story, and this one stood out to me initially for it's art style and premise. I enjoyed the storyline and all it's twists, the characters were really intruiging, and the puzzles were pretty fun. My issue with it, however, is that despite already being a relatively short game, I still feel like it takes a lot longer than it should to play through. Both the character's movement and much of the dialogue seems to go at a very slow pace. There are also times where in order to progress you need to select specific dialogue sequences which aren't particularly obvious and this can take frustratingly long to achieve. The game could definitely benefit from being a bit more fast-paced (or maybe I'm just impatient..). I will also say that while I really engoyed the story personally, I really don't think it would be everyone's cup of tea. If you're expecting a realstic 70s spy case then this might not be right for you - I won't spoil specifics but things get very bizzare as you progress, and while I found it to be intruiging, I could potentially see many others just finding it too weird. Ultimately I would totally recomment The Low Road for people who are into fun, quirky point-and-click adventures with unique stories.. This game is a mixed bag of things handled really well and things handled somewhat poorly. Characters are mostly interesting but the voice acting varies in quality. The story is entertaining at times and nonsensical at others. The art style, as expressed in some of the other reviews, is either charming or repulsive, depending on your opinion. However, the gameplay itself is easy to understand and free of technical issues, the puzzles are actually really fun, the soundtrack is exceptional, and its an easy game to grind for 100% achievements. TL;DR Buy it on sale and have a good time with it.. The Low Road has an interesting take on classic point-and-click adventures: it adds mini-games to the usual mix of object and npc interactions in the genre. This game gets my seal of approvalPros- It's Funny, I crave for an adventure that's actually funny, most of them tried but failed and this one succeed- I love these characters, they're charming, fun and interesting, and I want to see more of them.- The soundtrack, I love them and I could just listen to them on a regular basis.- I had a lot of fun with the dialogue puzzleCons:- Other than the dialogue puzzles, the other puzzle was lackluster, I'm dissapointed.- The story, could've been a little bit better, but I don't have too many complaints.- Press space bar if you want to skip text, I didn't know this after half point of the game.- Very little interaction with the enviroment.- It wasn't very long, the only reason I'm 11 hours in is because, I just left the game open while doing something elseBut hey, I still think this game is awesome, and I would buy the sequel if it does come out one day.. The opening music reminds me of a Tarantino movie..... Went slightly downhill from there with the voice acting, but it's forgiveable. Puzzles have medium difficulty and it's a game I'll chip away at over the next week or so in order to break up AAA gaming sessions.
